LUUCU Vision 2003-04

We want to be a CU that is prepared to wait on God, to focus on prayer, and to seek God�s face. Central to this is placing the Gospel at the heart of all we do and say, recognising what Jesus has done for us and the effect this has on our daily lives. We want to be a passionate people who know the joy of loving God. We believe that out of this love should come a desire to strive for holiness: to be set apart for God. Through this increased passion and love for God we believe people will be empowered to be bold in sharing the Gospel.

1 Peter 4:7-11

"The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self controlled so that you can pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen."

Cells

• We want to increase their role in CU's objectives of "mission and maturity".
• They should be places of accountability and discipleship.
• The Word should be fundamental to cells.
• They should encourage personal growth in Christ.
• They also should be places which reach out to the community around them.

Saturday Night Live

• A place that is welcoming to all CU members.
• Practices inclusion and "hospitality".
• Gives an opportunity for gifts to be discovered and nurtured.
• An opportunity to receive teaching that will help us go further in our walk with God.

Gifts

• We want all members to be released into their individual gifts, and given the opportunities to see them grow.

Unity within Church and City

• We want to encourage unity between ourselves and other CUs in Leeds and Bradford.
• We believe that God will dwell in these relationships and that there is power in agreement.
• We believe as students we have responsibility to the city - to give back as we receive.

As members of the CU, shall we be accountable to each other for:

• Spending time with God.
• Being committed to prayer and being a persevering people in that.
• Knowing the Gospel and not being ashamed of it.
• Being committed to the Bible.
• Being committed to Cells.
• Supporting the work of those involved in social action and international students.
• Continually seeking to further our relationships with God.
