About Departmental Groups

What are department prayer meetings?

These are meetings where people meet within their academic departments to pray together. Usually these meetings take place once a week for about an hour.

Why bother with department prayer groups?

We are told in the Bible to pray for the spread of the gospel. Department prayer groups can be a place to pray for people in your department.

"Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you." -- 2 Thessalonians 3:1 (NIV)

Department prayer groups are also a great opportunity to meet other Christians on your course from various years and gain academic and spiritual encouragement, support and advice. Together you can spur each other on in your prayer life and your faith.

Department prayer groups could spend time looking at issues in your course that might conflict with your faith, for example ethical issues in medicine.
